Cold-Dyed Cotton Twill. Slim Fit. Mud. The Jacket That Earns Its Colour.

The W5415 in mud is the same construction as the grey — slim-fit jacket in cold-dyed cotton twill (60% cotton, 38% tencel, 2% elastane), unlined, with internal shoulder pads, button closure, and welt pockets — but in a colorway that changes how the cold dyeing reads. In mud, the cold-dyed variation creates a warm, earthy brown-grey with natural depth: lighter areas where the dye absorbed less, darker areas where it absorbed more. No two W5415 mud jackets are identical. Made in Italy by LA HAINE INSIDE US.

Why This Jacket Is Different

  • Cold Dyeing in Mud: The jacket is dyed at low temperature after construction — a process that creates a colour with natural variation across the fabric. In mud, the cold-dyed variation creates a warm, earthy brown-grey where the lighter areas read as sand and the darker areas read as deep brown. The variation is determined by the construction of the jacket — seams, folds, and areas of tension absorb the dye differently, creating a colour that reflects the structure of the piece. No two W5415 mud jackets are identical.
  • Cotton-Tencel-Elastane Blend: 60% cotton, 38% tencel, 2% elastane — the cotton provides natural breathability and structure; the tencel (lyocell) adds softness, drape, and a subtle sheen that amplifies the cold-dyed colour variation; the 2% elastane adds stretch and recovery. The tencel content is particularly important for the cold dyeing: tencel absorbs dye differently from cotton, creating additional variation in the mud colour across the blended fabric.
  • Mud Colorway: A warm, earthy brown-grey that is amplified by the cold-dyed process — the variation in the mud colour creating a surface that reads as organic and considered. In mud, the cold-dyed variation is more visible than in grey or black: the warm tone amplifying the lighter and darker areas of the dye absorption, the colour reading as dimensional and alive.
  • Internal Shoulder Pads: Shoulder pads sewn inside the jacket — not visible from the outside, but creating a defined, structured shoulder line that gives the slim-fit jacket its architectural presence.
  • Unlined: The jacket is unlined — the cold-dyed fabric the only layer, lighter and more breathable than a lined jacket.
  • Welt Pockets: Clean, precise welt pockets that maintain the jacket's unbroken silhouette.
  • Made in Italy: Cold dyeing, twill construction, internal shoulder pad finishing, and all construction completed in Italy under LA HAINE INSIDE US's atelier standards.

W5415 Mud vs. W5415 Grey

The W5415 mud and grey share the same cold-dyed cotton twill construction, slim fit, internal shoulder pads, and welt pockets. The difference is how the cold dyeing reads in each colorway. In grey, the cold-dyed variation creates a cool, considered surface — the variation subtle and precise. In mud, the cold-dyed variation is warmer and more visible — the earthy tone amplifying the lighter and darker areas of the dye absorption, the colour reading as organic and dimensional. Choose grey for a cooler, more precise reading; choose mud for a warmer, more organic version of the same construction.

The Moment You Put It On

The cold-dyed mud is immediately warm and dimensional — the colour variation visible across the twill surface, lighter areas reading as sand, darker areas reading as deep brown. The internal shoulder pads create a defined shoulder line without visible padding; the slim fit follows the body below. The unlined construction makes the jacket lighter than expected — the cold-dyed twill the only layer, breathable and precise.

The welt pockets sit flush with the twill surface; the button closes the front with a single, clean click. In mud, the cold-dyed variation is at its most visible — the warm tone amplifying the natural variation of the dye absorption, the colour reading as organic and alive.

The Art of Cold Dyeing

Cold dyeing is a dyeing process performed at low temperature — typically below 60°C — after the garment is constructed. Unlike hot dyeing, which penetrates the fabric fibres uniformly, cold dyeing does not penetrate as deeply or as evenly, creating natural variation in the colour across the surface. In the W5415 mud, the cold dyeing creates a warm, earthy brown-grey where the lighter areas read as sand and the darker areas read as deep brown — the variation determined by the construction of the jacket, the seams and folds absorbing the dye differently. The tencel content (38%) absorbs the mud dye differently from the cotton content (60%), adding additional variation to the cold-dyed surface. The result is a mud that is unique to each piece: no two W5415 mud jackets are identical.

How to Wear It

  • Earth-Tone Palette: Wear with camel, sand, olive, or brown pieces — the cold-dyed mud jacket sits naturally within an earth-tone palette, the colour variation adding depth to the warm colour story.
  • Over a Turtleneck: Wear over a fitted black or cream turtleneck and slim trousers — the slim-fit jacket over a minimal base, the cold-dyed mud and internal shoulder pads the focal points.
  • With Wide-Leg Trousers: Wear with wide-leg trousers in a contrasting colour — the slim-fit jacket creating a deliberate proportion contrast with the wide-leg below.
  • Layered Under a Coat: Wear under an open overcoat — the cold-dyed mud jacket visible at the front, the internal shoulder pads maintaining the structured shoulder line under the coat.

Care Instructions

  • Hand wash cold or machine wash on delicate cycle — the cold-dyed colour is set but gentle handling preserves the variation and the tencel content
  • Do not tumble dry at high heat — hang to dry to preserve the slim-fit shape and cold-dyed colour
  • Iron on low heat on the reverse — the twill weave responds well to light pressing; avoid ironing directly on the cold-dyed surface at high heat
  • Do not bleach — bleach will strip the cold-dyed colour variation
  • Store hung on a padded hanger to preserve the internal shoulder pad shape
