THOM KROM W TS 58226 Women's Top - Black 80% Cotton 20% Wool Natural Warmth Italian FW25/26

Regular price €129.00 EUR

80% Cotton. 20% Wool. No Elastane. German Design.

The THOM KROM W TS 58226 is a women's top in 80% cotton / 20% wool, black. This is the only piece in the THOM KROM FW25/26 women's range at TEPHRA with wool content — and the only top in the range without elastane. Cotton at 80% provides the structural base and surface character: a matte, breathable fabric with natural moisture absorption. Wool at 20% is the thermal modifier: the wool fibres' natural crimp traps air between the fibres and between the cotton and wool components, providing measurable warmth relative to a pure cotton top at equivalent weight. The absence of elastane means no mechanical stretch: the W TS 58226 is a structured top that maintains its cut geometry without stretch or recovery. Women's, XS–L. Made in Italy. Fall/Winter 25/26.

Why This Top Is optimizeDifferent

  • 80% cotton / 20% wool — the only wool-containing piece in the THOM KROM FW25/26 women's range at TEPHRA: Every other piece in the range uses cotton, viscose, polyester, modal, or elastane in various combinations; wool appears only in the W TS 58226; at 20% wool in a cotton-dominant blend, the wool's contribution is specifically thermal: wool fibres have a natural three-dimensional crimp (unlike cotton's two-dimensional crimp and viscose's straight filament structure) that traps air between and around the fibres at a higher rate than cotton alone; this trapped air is the mechanism of wool's thermal insulation; at 20% in a cotton-dominant fabric, the wool content adds meaningful warmth to what would otherwise be a cotton top without becoming the dominant fibre or producing the surface character (handle, drape, texture) of a wool-dominant fabric; the W TS 58226 is a cotton top with wool-added warmth, not a wool top with cotton structure
  • No elastane — non-stretch construction: The W TS 58226 is the only top in the THOM KROM FW25/26 women's range at TEPHRA without any elastane content; compare: W TS 57526 (9% elastane stretch jersey), W TS 57326 (5% elastane cotton blend), W TS 60226 (5% elastane viscose); the W TS 58226 at 0% elastane is a structured, non-stretch top; the fabric does not stretch to accommodate body movement; the THOM KROM cut provides the ease allowance that elastane would otherwise contribute in stretch-containing tops; the top maintains its cut dimensions throughout wear without elastic recovery
  • Wool's moisture management at 20%: Wool fibres absorb moisture into their fibre core structure (wool can absorb up to approximately 30% of its weight in moisture vapour while the fibre surface remains dry to the touch); in a 20% wool blend, this moisture absorption capacity is present at a reduced level relative to a pure wool fabric, but meaningfully above a pure cotton or viscose top; the cotton at 80% adds surface moisture absorption (cotton absorbs and wicks perspiration at the skin surface); the W TS 58226's 80/20 cotton-wool blend manages moisture from two mechanisms simultaneously — cotton's surface wicking and wool's core absorption — producing a top that handles perspiration effectively in the cooler autumn and winter conditions where FW25/26 garments are worn
  • Matte black surface at 80% cotton: The cotton component at 80% determines the dominant surface character of the W TS 58226: matte, light-scattering, consistent black without directional sheen; the wool at 20% may introduce slight surface texture relative to a pure cotton top (wool fibres' natural crimp and scale surface contribute a subtle texture to cotton-wool blends that pure cotton does not have), but the cotton at 80% keeps the surface primarily matte rather than developing the sheen or texture of wool-dominant fabrics; the W TS 58226 in black presents the matte surface character of the cotton-blend pieces in the range, with the wool's textural contribution a secondary surface quality rather than the dominant one
  • The warmest top in the THOM KROM FW25/26 women's range at TEPHRA: The 20% wool content adds thermal insulation that no other top in the range provides; the W TS 57526 viscose stretch jersey, W TS 57326 cotton-blend, and W TS 60226 viscose top are all non-wool and therefore without the air-trapping thermal insulation that wool's crimp structure contributes; for FW25/26 autumn and winter layering in cooler conditions, the W TS 58226 is the warmest base-layer top option in the women's range
  • XS–L, 4 sizes: Full four-size range; without elastane, size accurately to bust measurement as the top does not stretch to accommodate beyond its cut ease allowance
  • German design minimalism: No logos, no applied decoration; the W TS 58226's design is its cut and the cotton-wool blend's matte-textured surface character in black
  • Made in Italy: THOM KROM German design, Italian production; FW25/26
  • Unlike pure cotton tops (which provide breathability and moisture absorption but no additional thermal insulation beyond the fabric's own mass), the 20% wool in the W TS 58226 adds wool's air-trapping thermal insulation to the cotton base; unlike pure wool or wool-dominant tops (which can be heavier, require careful washing, and may have surface texture that reads as casual or rustic), the W TS 58226's 80% cotton base keeps the surface primarily matte and smooth, the weight appropriate for a top, and the care requirements reasonable for a cotton-dominant fabric

The Moment You Put It On

The W TS 58226 is immediately distinct from the viscose and cotton-elastane tops in the FW25/26 range: the cotton-wool blend has a weight and slight texture that the viscose and cotton-blend tops do not. The 20% wool's fibre crimp is perceptible at the surface as a subtle texture against smooth skin — not the coarseness of heavy wool, but the slight natural surface irregularity of a fine cotton-wool blend; finer and softer than a typical wool-mix top at this price point. The black is matte and consistent: the cotton at 80% keeps the surface light-scattering rather than reflective. The warmth is present from the first minutes of wear: the wool fibres trap air in and around the cotton structure, and the body's heat output is retained more effectively than in the cotton or viscose tops; in a cool room or in autumn outdoor conditions, the W TS 58226 noticeably warmer than the range's other top options. The fit is fixed: the top positions on the body without stretch, sits where the cut places it, and holds that position through wear.

The Art of Cotton-Wool Blend

Cotton and wool are both natural fibres with complementary properties: cotton's strength, dimensional stability, and surface smoothness balance wool's thermal insulation, moisture absorption, and surface texture. In a cotton-dominant blend at 80/20, the cotton fibre's properties are primary — the fabric's structural integrity, dimensional stability, and surface smoothness are cotton-determined — while the wool's thermal and moisture properties are added at the 20% level to modify the cotton's thermal performance. The mechanism is fibre-structural: wool fibres have a three-dimensional crimp (the fibre curls and bends in multiple planes, not just in a flat plane as cotton fibres do); this three-dimensional crimp creates air pockets within the wool fibre clusters and between the cotton and wool fibres in the blend; trapped air is the primary mechanism of thermal insulation in any textile; at 20% wool, the W TS 58226 contains enough wool fibre crimp to meaningfully increase the fabric's thermal insulation relative to a pure cotton top without the dimensional instability, surface coarseness, and care complexity of a wool-dominant fabric. The 80% cotton provides: the structural matrix that holds the top's cut dimensions without elastane; the surface smoothness that keeps the top matte and skin-comfortable; and the dimensional stability through cold-water washing that prevents the 20% wool from felting under care conditions appropriate for the cotton component. The specification of 80/20 cotton-wool without elastane for the W TS 58226 is a material decision to produce thermal warmth in a top that maintains its cut geometry without elastic recovery — a structured, warm, non-stretch top with natural fibre content throughout. THOM KROM German design precision in material specification. Italian production.

How to Wear It

  • As the warm base layer in a FW25/26 layered look: The W TS 58226 cotton-wool top as the warmest top in the THOM KROM FW25/26 women's range — appropriate as the skin-contact base layer in cooler autumn and winter conditions where the viscose and cotton-elastane tops are insufficient thermal layers; above the W TS 58226, the W SJ 49426 cotton jacket or the W B 326 / W J 21326 padded jackets complete the layered look with increasing insulation for colder conditions
  • With the W SK 9526 cotton-blend skirt or W ST 41826 trousers — coordinated matte black natural-fibre look: The W TS 58226 cotton-wool top above the W SK 9526 cotton-blend skirt or W ST 41826 trousers — both pieces in matte black, both cotton-dominant, both natural-fibre without synthetic surface character; the W TS 58226's slight wool texture above the cotton-blend skirt or trousers' structured cotton surface; a natural-fibre tonal black look with thermal performance appropriate for FW25/26
  • Surface contrast with the viscose skirts: The W TS 58226's matte cotton-wool surface above the W SK 9326 or W SK 9426 viscose skirts' directional sheen; the top's natural-fibre matte texture above the skirt's synthetic-adjacent viscose sheen; a material contrast within black, the cotton-wool top's subtle texture against the viscose's smooth reflective surface
  • Transitional and travel contexts: The cotton-dominant construction (80% cotton) is dimensionally stable through travel without requiring special care; the 20% wool's thermal addition makes the W TS 58226 effective across a wider ambient temperature range than the other tops in the range; in variable-temperature environments (indoor heated spaces, outdoor autumn conditions, transit), the cotton-wool blend manages moisture and provides warmth that synthetic and pure-viscose tops do not

Care Instructions

  • Hand wash cold or machine wash cold on the most delicate cycle in a mesh laundry bag — the 20% wool content requires cold-water washing; wool fibres felt (permanently mat together, shrinking and losing texture) under heat and mechanical agitation; cold water and minimal agitation prevent felting; the 80% cotton is dimensionally stable under cold washing and keeps the overall fabric's structure through the wash cycle
  • Use wool-appropriate detergent — standard detergents contain enzymes that degrade wool protein fibres (wool is a protein fibre, unlike cellulose cotton); a wool-specific or delicate-fabric detergent without protease enzymes protects the 20% wool component through repeated washings
  • Do not wring — wringing a wet cotton-wool fabric creates mechanical stress at the twist points; gently press excess water out by rolling the top in a clean dry towel
  • Lay flat to dry — the 20% wool has lower wet strength than dry strength; hanging the wet top from the neckline or shoulders allows the wet fabric to stretch permanently under its own weight; laying flat maintains the top's cut geometry through the drying process
  • Do not tumble dry — tumble dryer heat and mechanical tumbling will cause the 20% wool to felt; the cotton at 80% will also shrink under high tumble dryer heat; air drying only
  • Iron on low heat through a pressing cloth if needed — wool is heat-sensitive; a pressing cloth protects the wool surface from direct iron contact; the cotton at 80% accepts ironing well at low-medium heat; the combined fabric can be pressed on low heat through a cloth to remove wrinkles
  • Do not bleach — bleach destroys wool protein fibres and causes permanent damage
  • Store folded or on a padded hanger — wool-containing fabrics can distort on thin hangers; a padded hanger or flat folded storage prevents shoulder distortion over the FW25/26 season
