W5408 Dress - Mud Oversized Viscose Satin Cold-Dyed Drawstring Slit Removable Crop Top Women's Italian
Satin That Has Never Looked Like This Before
The W5408 is viscose satin cold-dyed to a deep, earthy mud — a colour that sits between brown and grey, warm and cool, depending on the light. Oversized, with drawstrings at the front and back to gather and reshape the silhouette, a slit at the hem for movement, adjustable straps, and a removable cold-dyed crop top knit accessory that transforms the dress entirely. Two garments. One piece. Made in Italy by LA HAINE INSIDE US.
Why This Dress Is Different
- Cold-Dyed Viscose Satin: The satin is cold-dyed after construction — a low-temperature process that creates unrepeatable tonal variation across the surface. The mud colour shifts from warm amber-brown to cool taupe depending on the light and the angle of the satin weave.
- Removable Cold-Dyed Crop Top: A knit crop top — also cold-dyed to match — is included as a removable accessory. Worn over the dress, it changes the silhouette entirely: from a fluid satin column to a layered, textured look. The crop top is a separate garment, not a styling suggestion.
- Drawstring Front and Back: Two drawstrings — one at the front, one at the back — allow the volume of the oversized satin to be gathered and shaped. Pulled tight, the dress becomes structured and draped. Released, it falls as a full, fluid column.
- Slit at the Hem: A deliberate opening at the bottom of the dress that adds movement and reveals the leg as you walk — a contrast to the oversized volume above.
- Adjustable Straps: The straps can be lengthened or shortened to adjust the neckline and the fall of the dress on the body.
- 100% Viscose Satin: A natural-derived fibre with a fluid drape and a natural sheen that catches light differently from synthetic satins — softer, more alive, more responsive to movement.
- 100% Cotton Lining/Secondary Fabric: The secondary fabric (100% cotton) provides structure and comfort against the skin beneath the satin.
- Made in Italy: The cold dyeing, construction, and finishing are all completed in Italy under LA HAINE INSIDE US's atelier standards.

The Moment You Put It On
Viscose satin moves differently from every other fabric. It is fluid in a way that feels almost liquid — the mud colour shifting as the satin catches and releases light with every step. The drawstrings change everything: gathered at the front, the dress becomes draped and sculptural; released, it falls as a single uninterrupted column to the slit at the hem.
Then there is the crop top. Cold-dyed to the same mud, knitted rather than woven — a different texture entirely. Worn over the satin, it creates a layered look that is simultaneously casual and considered. Removed, the satin speaks for itself.
The Art of Cold Dyeing
Cold dyeing is a low-temperature dyeing process applied to the finished garment. Because the garment is already constructed when it enters the dye bath, the colour absorbs unevenly — seams, hems, and stress points take on more dye, while flat panels absorb less. In viscose satin, this effect is amplified by the weave: the satin surface reflects light differently depending on the direction of the weave, and the cold dye interacts with this directionality to create a colour that appears to shift across the surface. The mud colour in the W5408 is the result of this process — warm in some lights, cool in others, never flat.
The Art of Viscose Satin
Viscose is a natural-derived fibre made from wood pulp — it has the fluid drape of silk without the price point, and a natural sheen that synthetic satins cannot replicate. Unlike polyester satin, which reflects light in a uniform, plastic way, viscose satin has a depth and warmth to its sheen that responds to movement and body heat. It is also more breathable and more comfortable against the skin — a fabric that improves with wear rather than degrading.
How to Wear It
- With Crop Top, Evening: Layer the cold-dyed crop top over the satin dress and gather the front drawstring — the contrast between knit and satin, gathered and fluid, creates a complete editorial look.
- Satin Only, Minimal: Remove the crop top and release the drawstrings — the dress becomes a fluid satin column with a slit at the hem. Wear with strappy sandals or bare feet.
- Gathered, Structured: Pull both drawstrings to gather the volume at the front and back — the oversized satin becomes draped and sculptural, closer to the body.
- Travel: The viscose satin packs well and recovers quickly — the cold-dyed mud colour hides creases naturally. The removable crop top doubles the outfit options from a single piece.
Care Instructions
- Hand wash cold — cold water only to preserve the cold-dyed finish and viscose satin
- Do not machine wash — viscose satin loses its drape and sheen in a machine wash cycle
- Do not tumble dry — lay flat or hang to dry away from direct sunlight
- Do not iron directly — steam only, or iron on the reverse at low heat
- Do not bleach — bleach will strip the cold dye and damage the viscose
- Store hung to preserve the drape and prevent creasing
