3B M1323 Trousers - Mud Oversized Balloon Cold-Dyed Stretch Cotton Italian Men's

Regular price €264.00 EUR

Earth, Held in a Curve

Mud. Fango. A warm, unfinished earth tone that arrives through a cold dye bath, which means no two pairs land on precisely the same shade. Wrapped around a balloon leg: rounded through the thigh, drawn in at the hem by side cords whenever you want a shorter line. A corozo button at the waist, warm and organic against the clay. LA HAINE INSIDE US, Italian avant-garde, Made In Italy.

Why These Trousers Are Different

  • Cold-dyed finish: a slow, low-temperature bath that produces tonal depth and faint irregularity, so your pair is genuinely its own.
  • Mud tone: a warm earth neutral that sits with black, cream, olive, and rust, unlike the flat neutrals most volume trousers arrive in.
  • Balloon silhouette: rounded volume through the leg tapering toward the hem, sculptural rather than simply wide.
  • Side drawstrings at the hem: shorten and gather the leg on demand, turning one trouser into two proportions.
  • Stretch cotton: 97% cotton with 3% elastane, so a large shape still moves and recovers instead of bagging.
  • Corozo button: vegetable ivory from the tagua palm, renewable, biodegradable, with a natural grain no plastic button can imitate.
  • Zip closure: conventional fastening under the volume, keeping the waist flat and secure.
  • Elasticated waist: where a rigid band digs in under an oversized cut, this gives and settles back.
  • Pockets: seam-set so the curve of the leg stays unbroken.
  • Made In Italy: cut and constructed in Italy.

Cut oversized with balloon volume through the hip and thigh. Waist ranges are generous thanks to the elasticated band and the stretch in the cotton. Take your usual size for the intended shape.

The Moment You Put Them On

Cotton this soft against a shape this big is the surprise. You expect structure to cost you something and it does not: the waist gives, the thigh has air around it, and the leg swings out and settles on every step. The corozo button is cool and dense under your thumb, a small piece of weight that tells you what you are holding.

Outside, the mud tone does something black never can. In flat light it reads soft and dusty, and in low sun it warms into clay, so the colour keeps shifting through the day. Pull the side cords and the hem rises into a rounded crop over a boot; release them and it falls full to the floor. One trouser, two moods, and you decide at the door.

The Art of Cold Dyeing

Cold dyeing is the patient method. Rather than forcing pigment in with heat, the cloth sits in a low-temperature bath and takes colour slowly and unevenly, so fibres absorb at marginally different rates. That inefficiency is the entire point: it leaves tonal depth and subtle variation that a uniform hot dye cannot reproduce, making each garment an unrepeatable finish rather than a mass-produced colour. It is also gentler on the cotton, leaving the hand noticeably softer.

The Art of Corozo

Corozo is vegetable ivory, the hardened seed of the tagua palm, sliced and polished into buttons. It is dense, cool, and takes colour with a faint natural grain, so no two are identical. Where plastic buttons are petroleum-based and give themselves away the moment you touch them, corozo is harvested from fallen seeds without felling the tree and is fully biodegradable. Against a warm earth tone it reads as part of the same natural palette rather than an interruption.

How to Wear Them

  • Tonal daytime: cords released, with cream or oatmeal layers, earth on earth, the leg falling full.
  • Cropped and gathered: cords pulled, hem bunched above a heavy boot, for a shorter architectural line.
  • Evening: with a fitted black knit tucked, the contrast of narrow top and wide leg carrying the look.
  • Travel: with a soft tee and trainers, the elasticated waist and cotton stretch handling a long day on the move.

Care Instructions

  • Hand wash cold, inside out, or dry clean: cold-dyed colour can release, especially in early washes.
  • Wash separately the first few times to avoid colour transfer.
  • Do not soak, and do not tumble dry, as heat degrades the elastane and dulls the dye.
  • Hang to dry away from direct sunlight.
  • Iron on medium if needed, avoiding the corozo button.
  • Do not bleach, and skip fabric softener.
  • Loosen the side drawstrings before washing so the hem dries evenly.
